Cookies

What are Cookies?

A cookie is a small piece of information that is automatically sent from a website to your browser for storage on your computer. Most websites use cookies in one way or another. If you want to know more about cookies a good place to start is aboutcookies.org or allaboutcookies.org

Neither of us are web developers and we do not actively use cookies on this website. But like most websites, the site might put cookies on your PC from third parties, in connection with (1) the cookie warning banner (2) the statistics service we use, (3) any affiliate schemes which we have joined and (4) any adverts served by advertising companies.

  1. Cookie warning: The cookie message which appears the first time you visit the site is powered by an open-source javascript file. The script places a cookie on your computer so that it remembers you've already been shown the cookie warning and doesn't bother you with it again each time you view another page or revisit the site.

  2. Google & 1and1 Analytics cookies: We use Google and 1&1 Analytics to understand how many people visit each page of the site. The service also records where visitors reside and basic computer information such as screen resolution and type of internet browser. The information which is anonymous is used to create reports about how people in general use the website. We only have access to the information at an anonymous aggregate level.

  3. Affiliate schemes & cookies: We do not currently have any affiliation schemes linked from the website.

  4. Advertising company cookies: We do not currently have any advertising schemes linked from the website.

3rd Party Websites

We may provide links to websites operated by other entities. If you use any linked sites, you will leave our website and you do so at your own risk. Please be aware that 3rd Party websites may use Cookies and their privacy policy is likely to be different to ours so it is recommended that you review any 3rd Party privacy policies when accessing a new site.

I can smell Cookies!

If you would like to know exactly which cookies from which organisations are downloaded when you visit any given webpage (on any site, not just this one) you can download and install the free 'Ghostery' plug-in from ghostery.com It explains who the various organisations are, and what they use their cookies for.

Consent

Analytical Cookies are important so we can adapt the website to best meet the needs of those accessing it. By using our website we deem that you have agreed to the use of the cookies. If you are at all concerned by accessing the site with the cookies 'enabled' you can:

Close the website and via your browser tools delete any downloaded cookies and prevent any further cookies being downloaded when browsing in future. You can find advice on how to delete cookies from your computer using various browsers at aboutcookies.org or allaboutcookies.org
